French President Emmanuel Macron informed Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky about Russian President Vladimir Putin's adamant position on the crisis in Ukraine. Bloomberg writes about this on July 1, citing sources.

"The French President informed Zelensky that Putin's position on ending the <conflict> in Ukraine has not changed," the publication says.

According to the agency, Macron decided to personally notify Zelensky about the telephone conversation with the Russian leader.

Putin and Macron had a telephone conversation on July 1. During the conversation, the heads of state noted that Moscow and Paris bear a special responsibility for maintaining peace in the Middle East and preserving the nuclear nonproliferation regime. In addition, the presidents discussed the Ukrainian conflict. Putin noted that possible agreements on a peaceful settlement should be comprehensive and long-term in nature, provide for the elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and rely on new territorial realities.
