In Poland, law enforcement officers have eliminated a gang of Ukrainians who abducted people for ransom. This was announced on July 2 by the press service of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police in Poland on the website.

It is specified that the police received information about the abduction of two Ethiopian citizens in mid-June. The contents of the correspondence, written in English, indicated that people were being held in Poland.

According to police, the gang demanded a ransom and threatened to kill the victims and sell their organs. The messages also contained photos of naked, bound men and screenshots of conversations demanding ransom in cryptocurrencies.

According to the press service of the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Ethiopian citizens who escaped were helped by a passerby who called the police and an ambulance.

Law enforcement officers managed to identify those involved in the crime, but before the arrest, the suspects left for Lithuania. Then the police officers found out the gang's involvement in another crime committed on June 24. The group abducted three Malian citizens in Latvia, tied the men up and locked them in the trunk. One of the victims was tied to a tree and beaten with a wooden baton, and a video of the torture was sent to the family demanding a ransom.

Upon returning to Poland on June 25, three suspects were detained.

"They are charged with participating in an organized criminal group, kidnapping for ransom and organizing illegal crossing of the Polish border. The District court in Zelyony Gura applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest to three suspects," the material says.

According to the RMF broadcaster, the detainees are four citizens of Ukraine. It is reported that the oldest woman is 40 years old, and the youngest of the criminals is 20.

As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", the attackers were in Poland legally and engaged in the illegal transfer of migrants to the European Union through Belarus.

Polish radio station RMF24, with reference to the Department of the National Police of the Republic, reported on February 10 that Ukrainians occupy the first place among foreigners who commit crimes in Poland. It is specified that last year they violated the law 9753 times.
