The Federation Council has ratified the agreement with the UAE on the abolition of double taxation

On July 2, senators of the Federation Council ratified an intergovernmental agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and capital and the prevention of tax avoidance and evasion.

It is noted that the agreement will ensure equal taxation conditions, as well as eliminate double taxation on the same type of income in the two countries. The agreement includes a wide range of regulated income: income from real estate, business profits, profits from the operation of ships and aircraft in international traffic, capital, dividends and interest, income from copyrights and licenses, and a number of other income.

In addition, the agreement establishes methods for eliminating double taxation and provides for the principle of non-discrimination.

As indicated in the explanatory note to the document, this agreement is aimed at developing investment, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

On June 24, it was reported that the State Duma had ratified an agreement with the UAE on the elimination of double taxation on income and capital taxes, as well as the prevention of tax avoidance and evasion.

On February 17, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, during the signing in Abu Dhabi of an intergovernmental agreement on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and capital, stated that the views and interests of the Russian Federation and the UAE coincide on topical issues of the financial agenda, including improving the budget process and its digitalization.
