Lukashenko pardoned 16 people convicted of various crimes


President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has pardoned 16 people who were convicted of various crimes, including extremist ones. This was reported on the website of the Belarusian leader on July 2.
"There are eight women and eight men among those pardoned. Three of them are over 50 years old. Two have chronic diseases, one is disabled. Nine convicts have minor children," the publication says.
It clarifies that all the convicts repented of their crimes and pledged not to violate the country's constitution.
On June 21, 14 prisoners were released in Belarus, following a meeting between President Alexander Lukashenko and US President Donald Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg.
