The court in Yekaterinburg arrested the sixth defendant in the murder case of previous years.

Shakhin Lalaev, the sixth person involved in the murders as part of an organized criminal group in Yekaterinburg, was arrested. This was reported on July 2 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is specified that Lalaev will stay in jail until July 19.

In total, six defendants are involved in the case. Earlier, the court detained Akif, Ayaz, Bakir and Mazakhir Safarov, as well as Ahliman Ganjiev. According to investigators, the defendants are involved in several crimes committed in Yekaterinburg.

Earlier, on July 1, in Yekaterinburg, law enforcement officers also detained the leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Shahin Shikhlinski.

On June 28, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that an ethnic criminal group, whose members are suspected of a number of murders and attempted murders in recent years, had been suppressed in the Sverdlovsk region. According to the investigation, people from Azerbaijan are involved in the crimes in Yekaterinburg committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Several suspects confessed.
