- Zakharova pointed out the importance of friendship in relations between Russia and Azerbaijan

Friendly relations are extremely important for Russia and Azerbaijan. This was stated on July 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on Sputnik radio.
According to her, those who are trying to spoil relations between Russia and Azerbaijan "should think carefully about what they are doing." In addition, Zakharova stressed that Baku had no complaints about the Sputnik Azerbaijan office or the work of journalists.
"The Azerbaijani side has never had any complaints about this media outlet, either in form or content. I have not heard any complaints from Baku, and at this stage, as journalists, there were no complaints. Obviously, these are measures that are being taken based on other considerations," Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying on the Telegram channel.
On June 30, Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies conducted an operation in the office of Sputnik Azerbaijan. Later, it was reported about the detention of two Russian journalists — Igor Kartavykh, the head of the editorial office of Sputnik Azerbaijan, and Evgeny Belousov, the editor-in-chief.
On July 1, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow was attentive to information about the detention of journalists from the Russian Federation. He stressed that Russia expects to reach an agreement with the Azerbaijani side on their release in the near future.
