French media cited the reason for Macron's call to Putin

A telephone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian leader Vladimir Putin indicates an attempt by the European Union (EU) states to become participants in negotiations on the Iranian issue. This was reported by the French newspaper Le Parisien on July 1.
"This phone call, in any case, demonstrates the willingness of European diplomacy, in particular Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, to regain control over this issue, especially given that the Iranians are reportedly not planning to resume negotiations with the Americans yet," the publication says.
After the telephone conversation, the leaders of the two countries insisted on the need to coordinate actions to resolve the problem through diplomacy.
Earlier, on July 1, it was reported about a telephone conversation between Putin and Macron. During the call, the Presidents noted that Russia and France bear a special responsibility for maintaining peace in the Middle East and preserving the nuclear nonproliferation regime.
