An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the waters of the Achinsk Bay near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This was announced on July 2 in the Kamchatka branch of the United Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Telegram channel.
It is specified that the seismic event was recorded at a distance of 51 km from the city. Its source was at a depth of 88.2 km.
In addition, the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that tremors of magnitude up to 3 could be felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. No tsunami threat has been announced.
On the same day, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 was recorded in the south of the Kuril Islands. The seismic event was located at a depth of 120 km.
