The doctor pointed out the negative effects of the conditioner on the eyes

Dry eyes and a feeling of sand in them in the summer most often appear in the office, and not on the street due to the effects of air conditioners on them. Kristina Gorbacheva, a specialist at the Vision ophthalmological center, told Gazeta about this on July 2.Ru».
"Cold, dry air from an air conditioner can create a low-humidity area in front of your face. <… > As a result, the eyes dry out, discomfort, redness and pain appear," the doctor said.
According to the expert, air conditioning is more dangerous than the summer wind, because the air flow in the room does not dissipate as it does outside. This is most felt when working at a computer, because a person blinks less often, and the dry stream from the air conditioner constantly blows into his eyes. Thus, the air in front of the monitor becomes over-dried (an area with low humidity, where the tear film evaporates especially quickly).
"When the tear film is over-dried, the protection of the cornea is disrupted. She becomes vulnerable to external stimuli. This can lead to a feeling of a foreign body, lacrimation, burning and redness. Dry eye syndrome often develops," Gorbacheva noted.
According to the doctor, contact lens wearers are at risk, as well as those who have already experienced dry eye syndrome or have hormonal disorders. In addition, inflammatory eye diseases, allergies, and taking certain medications affect the condition of the tear film.
The ophthalmologist also gave recommendations on eye protection in the office. According to her, it is necessary to turn the blinds of the air conditioner in a different direction from the face, and you can also install an air humidifier in the workplace.
"Do a warm—up according to the 20-20-20 rule (take a break for at least 20 seconds every 20 minutes to look at a distance of at least 6 m)," the doctor concluded.
On July 1, Valeria Bonadykova, a cardiologist at the Scandinavian Health Center, spoke about the dangers of heart apnea and its treatment. According to the doctor, without treatment of the disorder, the risk of hypertension, heart attacks, strokes and arrhythmias increases. With a mild form of apnea, mouth guards are used for treatment. Experts also recommend losing weight, avoiding alcohol, sleeping pills, and sleeping on your side.
