The military exercises of the Russian navy have become a clear signal to Japan about the inadmissibility of provocations in the Pacific Ocean. This was announced on July 1 by the Chinese portal Sohu.

So, a few days ago, Japan conducted a test launch of a Type 88 surface-to-ship anti-ship missile in Hokkaido. According to the publication, this is the first long-range rocket firing conducted by Japan on its own territory since the end of World War II.

Russia reacted to the actions of the Japanese side on a large scale: two days later, the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) conducted exercises in the Seas of Japan and Okhotsk, involving more than 40 ships, 5,000 troops and 30 aircraft. Moreover, reserve bases in Kamchatka were put on alert, the article notes.

"That's how Moscow made it clear to Tokyo: you have missiles, we have a fleet. There is no place for unilateral provocations in the Pacific Ocean," the publication says.

This is not the first time Japan has conducted such exercises on the high seas. So, on May 23, Tokyo held a shooting practice near the borders of Russia on the island of Hokkaido. In this regard, the Russian Foreign Ministry protested to the Japanese Embassy in Moscow.
