In Germany, increased control over ships in the Baltic Sea was reported

Germany has tightened its control over ships heading east in the Baltic Sea. This was announced on July 1 by the press service of the German Foreign Ministry.
"Since July 1, 2025, the German authorities have been conducting a survey of passing tankers for their insurance coverage against damage caused by the oil spill. This applies to ships heading east from Fehmarn," the agency said in a statement.
It clarifies that the relevant measures were taken to counter the so-called "shadow fleet", allegedly linked to the Russian Federation, as well as to increase the safety of ship movement and to protect the environment.
According to the German Foreign Ministry, in case of detection of "deviations", Germany is ready to take measures up to the inclusion of ships in the sanctions lists.
On June 25, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko announced that the efforts of the North Atlantic Alliance had turned the Baltic Sea region, which had remained militarily stable for decades, into a zone of confrontation between NATO and Russia.
