An offshore drilling rig of oil companies sank in the Gulf of Suez. This was announced on July 1 by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

"The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has just received a message from OSOCO about the wreck of the Adam Marine 12 barge in the Jabal al-Zeit area in the Gulf of Suez," the ministry said in a statement on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

It is specified that the heads of departments went to the accident site to assess the situation, as well as to monitor the rescue operation as part of the elimination of the consequences of the incident.

The newspaper Al Masry Al Youm noted that the incident occurred at the moment when the platform was being towed by three ships. The publication reports that there were 31 people on the tower, and 21 people have been rescued so far. Four people did not survive, six more are considered missing. At the moment, work is underway to rescue the remaining crew members.

The Independent reported on May 19 that seven tourists who disappeared after the crash of the yacht Sea Story in the Red Sea in 2024 did not survive. It was clarified that the bodies of four people were found after the incident, and 33 people were also rescued. The rest of the travelers were reported missing. The yacht with 31 tourists on board sank in November last year.
