The resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States will be possible only if there are guarantees that the United States will not attack Tehran again. This was announced on July 1 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

"I don't think the negotiations will resume so quickly. <...> In order for us to decide to re—enter negotiations, we must first make sure that the United States does not attack us again during the negotiations themselves," CBS News quoted him as saying.

Araqchi also believes that Iran's agreement to a cease-fire was a step that opens the way to a possible resumption of a multilateral dialogue.

"Iran's acceptance of the demand to end the war has opened a new window for multilateral diplomacy, giving all parties wishing for peace a chance to reassess their capabilities," TASS quoted him as saying.

Araqchi said on June 26 that the authorities of the Islamic Republic have not yet decided whether they will participate in new negotiations with the United States. He also pointed to the lack of agreements in the United States on dialogue in the future.
