Germany will not become a party to the Ukrainian conflict, but will try to end it. This was announced on July 1 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an interview with ARD TV channel.

"One thing is clear, and I repeat it here in this program: Germany will not become a party to the conflict. This is not going to happen," he said.

Merz also said that he had discussed with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky the possible training of the Ukrainian military in handling Taurus cruise missiles. He added that Germany would no longer publicly discuss the issue of arms supplies to Kiev.

The Bild newspaper reported on June 27 that €1 billion intended to help Ukraine had disappeared in Germany. It was noted that the German side promised to allocate €9.2 billion to Kiev this year, but the cabinet of Chancellor Friedrich Merz counted the allocation of €8.3 billion from the budget for these purposes.
