The French Embassy in Senegal announced the withdrawal of French troops from a military base located in Rufiske near Dakar. This was reported on July 1 by the Anadolu agency, citing a statement from the diplomatic mission.

"The transfer [of the military base] is part of the ongoing process of the withdrawal of French troops from Senegal," the publication says.

The military base in Rufiske has been used to provide communications on the south Atlantic coast since 1960. It is specified that the remaining military facilities in Senegal will be returned by the end of July 2025.

The Senego portal reported on February 3 that France had begun withdrawing troops from Senegal and vacated three military bases. It was clarified that the facilities of Marechal, Saint-Exupery and Rear Admiral Protet were abandoned.
