Putin supported the idea of developing a FEZ in the Tambov region

Vladimir Putin supported the idea of developing a free economic zone in the Tambov region. This became known during a working meeting between the president and the acting governor of the region, Yevgeny Pervyshov.

He informed the President that from the first days of his work, he had focused on fulfilling his assignment to support veterans of his military. During the meeting, he clarified that the regional program "Heroes of the Tambov Region" operates in the region, aimed at promoting employment, mentoring in business and cooperation with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. According to the acting governor, he personally holds meetings with veterans and their families to ensure the implementation of 46 support measures, including both cash payments and non-financial assistance.

As for the demographic situation, the mortality rate in the Tambov region exceeds the birth rate — three deaths per one born. "To date, about 7.6 thousand people have left, only 2.6 [thousand] babies have been born," explained Evgeny Pervyshov.

One of the key topics was the economic development of the region. The plan to create a free economic zone in the region was presented at SPIEF 2025, after which the agreement was immediately signed by a number of investors. According to the acting governor, the creation of the zone will lead to economic growth in the region. Vladimir Putin promised to support such an initiative.

Putin spoke about the huge investment potential of Russia's historical regions and instructed them to strengthen their financial base.

With the support of Gazprom, gasification of settlements in the Tambov region has been almost completely completed. It is expected that this issue will be closed before the end of 2030. "Next year, I have planned full gasification of all social facilities, there are not so many left. Schools and kindergartens will be gasified, and we are moving on," said Evgeny Pervyshov.

There is a "definite lag" in the rate of housing commissioning in the Tambov Region compared to other regions. The acting head of the region promised to rectify the situation. Currently, local authorities, together with the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, are engaged in improving the characteristics of land plots for construction. "We need to pay attention so that there is no subsidence," the president noted.
