The construction of power units No. 1 and No. 2 of the Kola NPP-2 is planned from 2027 to 2037. This was reported by the press service of Rosatom with reference to the head of the state corporation Alexei Likhachev on July 1.

"The capacity of each power unit is 600 MW. The service life of the main equipment is 80 years. Construction is planned from 2027 to 2037," the press service said on the Telegram channel.

It is specified that such a statement was made as a result of Likhachev's visit to the Kola Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). According to the head of the corporation, the implementation of this project will help develop the economy and social sphere of the Murmansk region, as well as open up opportunities for launching new industrial projects in the region.

"The medium—capacity project is innovative and meets modern energy system requirements, including maneuverability requirements, which is especially important for regions with network restrictions, including the Kola Peninsula," concluded Likhachev.

Alexey Likhachev, the head of the Rosatom State Corporation, announced in May that the first power unit of the Kursk NPP-2 nuclear power plant would be connected to the grid by the end of this year. According to him, the construction of the station did not stop for a minute, despite the proximity to the war zone. He also noted the importance of supporting cities located near the fighting, such as Energodar and Kurchatov.
