Trump announced his intention to force Netanyahu to cease fire in the Gaza Strip

US President Donald Trump said he intends to take a "very tough" position in negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and achieve a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip next week. The American leader announced this on Tuesday, July 1, during a visit to the state of Florida.
"I will be very tough with him <...> He also wants to put an end to [the conflict in the Gaza Strip]," the White House Rapid Response 47 operational channel quoted him as saying on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Trump added that he expects to conclude a peace deal next week.
On June 27, Newsweek magazine reported that Trump was making efforts to convince Netanyahu to conclude a cease-fire agreement with the Palestinian Hamas movement. According to the newspaper, the head of the White House expects that a temporary truce can develop into a long-term settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, lead to the release of hostages and a permanent cease-fire.
