The court sentenced an 18-year-old driver to five years in a penal colony, who drove into a stop in Nizhny Novgorod in a car-sharing car, resulting in the death of two people. This was announced on July 1 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
The court also ordered the young man to pay 3 million rubles as moral compensation and 300 thousand rubles for material damage.
It is noted that the verdict was passed in the framework of a criminal case under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").
An accident with a carsharing car occurred on February 27. At the time of the incident, the car was traveling at a speed of about 150 km/h. As a result of the incident, two people were killed and five injured. Soon after, the young man was detained. The driver fully admitted his guilt and apologized to the relatives of the victims.
