Employers have become more likely to offer IT specialists to return to the office

The number of vacancies for office work in the IT sector has exceeded 236,000, which is 34% more than in 2024. Meanwhile, the number of vacancies on the remote site has declined since the beginning of 2025. The company's analysts told Izvestia about this on July 2. hh.ru together with the construction and investment corporation "Development-South".
Thus, the demand for remote workers in the whole country decreased by 12%. In total, Russian employers posted more than 76,000 vacancies, which is less than in the same period last year.
"The trend towards remoting is falling, because any competent employer understands that working in an office improves interaction and adds productivity, strengthens corporate culture and simplifies the process of employee control," said Maria Ignatova, research director at one of the leading companies.
At the same time, experts note that the absolute figures indicate the unwillingness of employers to completely abandon the remote format of work. This is especially true in the current scarce labor market, when qualified IT specialists are worth their weight in gold.
Meanwhile, the number of vacancies for office work in the IT sector has exceeded 236,000, which is 34% more than in 2024. Thus, the trend is quite obvious — companies "invite" IT specialists to return to their offices, but it is worth noting their compliance: if a valuable staff does not agree to return to the office, then, most likely, options will be offered for consideration — a hybrid or a complete removal.
"The approach to the placement of people is changing rather: in the office, at home or in a hybrid way. This is primarily an echo of the rather severe shortage of personnel that the market is experiencing. Many development companies are also forced to adapt to the wishes of applicants, who increasingly want to determine for themselves when their working day begins, where exactly they will perform their duties (remotely, in an office or coworking space) and whether they will work on staff," the analysts said.
On May 21, Vladimir Koritsky, CEO of the service for secure transactions with freelancers at Solar Staff, told Izvestia about a new trend — polyworking: when a person simultaneously conducts several projects, he works for a number of companies in different roles. According to the expert, this allows people to increase their income, constantly develop skills in various fields, be creative and avoid routine.
