Former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief James Shooter has died.
James Shooter, the former editor-in-chief of the American comic book publisher Marvel Comics, has died at the age of 73. This was announced on July 1 by the company in X (ex. Twitter).
"We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Jim Shooter, the former editor-in-chief. Jim changed the comic book industry, and in the coming days we will reflect on his undeniable legacy," the publication says.
According to Forbes magazine, Shooter died after a long battle with esophageal cancer.
Shooter became the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics back in the late 1970s. After the success of "X-Men" in its era, Marvel began to attract young professionals who began experimenting with new formats. For example, original graphic novels were released back then.
