A member of the criminal group Ahliman Ganjiev, accused in the murder case in Yekaterinburg, was arrested. This was reported on July 1 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
Ganjiev will remain in jail until July 19. In total, six defendants are involved in the case. Earlier, the court detained Akif, Ayaz, Bakir and Mazakhir Safarov. Shahin Lalaev is awaiting the election of a preventive measure.
According to investigators, the defendants who were part of the criminal group were involved in several crimes committed in Yekaterinburg.
Among them are the murders of Azerbaijani-born businessman Yunis Pashayev in 2001, Ikram Hajiyev, the owner of one of the city's vegetable stores, in 2011, as well as an attempted murder for hire in 2010. The motive for crimes is considered to be the division of spheres of influence in business.
On June 28, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that an ethnic criminal group, whose members are suspected of a number of murders and attempted murders in recent years, had been suppressed in the Sverdlovsk region. According to the investigation, people from Azerbaijan are involved in the crimes in Yekaterinburg committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Several suspects confessed.
