The doctor spoke about the condition of Dana's orangutan after the incident in the Taigan Park

Dana the orangutan is still weak, but she is already on the mend. This was announced to Izvestia on July 1 by Vasily Piskovoy, the official doctor of the Taigan Safari Park.

"The prognosis will be favorable when she is already fully eating and in her usual frame of mind. And now she's still a little sluggish, but she's already on the mend," he said.

Piskovoy also said that Dana can take various objects in her mouth, for example, bottle caps, but she never swallows. The orangutan could have mistaken the electronic cigarette cartridge given to her by a visitor to the park for candy because of the sweet smell and swallowed it.

Now the animal is being given sorbents that neutralize toxins in the body. It is noted that Dana is beginning to recover gradually, so she was not X-rayed.

"In this case, since everything is working well for her, she is recovering, there is no point in torturing her, fixing her, because to do an ultrasound or an X—ray is not even for a cat or a dog — Dana needs to be held ten times, she is strong," the doctor concluded.

On June 30, a visitor to the Crimean Taigan Park gave an orangutan a taste of vape, after which the animal became ill.
