Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan proposed to seriously discuss the issue of suspending the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in Armenia. This was reported on July 1 by the Armenpress news agency.

"We must seriously discuss the issue of suspending the broadcasting of Russian TV channels on the territory of the Republic of Armenia," Simonyan said.

According to him, some Russian programs "harm Russian-Armenian relations.

"If there are channels that allow themselves to interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Armenia, perhaps we should respond in kind, at least by banning access to the apartments of our citizens," Simonyan stressed.

The day before, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia and the European Union (EU) have started discussing cooperation in the field of security and defense.

Later, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, Senator Andrei Klimov, commenting on Armenia's plans to cooperate with the EU in the defense sector, noted that Russia respects the sovereignty and independence of the republic.
