There are no "magic" foods that can instantly relieve pain, but proper nutrition plays an important role in an integrated approach to treatment. On July 2, a doctor of sports medicine and physical therapy, a nutritionist, a nutritionist and an expert of XFIT (or XFIT fitness clubs) told Izvestia which products help maintain joint health Ekaterina Strelnikova.

"There are many causes of joint pain, from gout and rheumatoid arthritis to the effects of injury and obesity. In each case, an individual approach to nutrition is required," Strelnikova explained.

With gout, it is necessary to limit foods rich in purines, and with obesity, reduce weight to reduce stress on the joints.

The specialist identified four main groups of products that are beneficial for joints. First of all, these are sources of omega-3 — fish, seafood, avocado and flaxseed oil. The second group consists of high—quality proteins - meat, poultry, dairy products, eggs. The third group includes foods rich in calcium, such as cheeses, nuts, dried fruits, and green vegetables. The fourth group consists of vegetables, herbs, berries and fruits as sources of vitamins.

"These products should be the basis of a regular diet. However, any restrictions must take into account individual characteristics, such as allergies or concomitant diseases. Age is not crucial here," the specialist noted.

Strelnikova reminds that in case of serious joint problems, nutrition should be supplemented with medication, physiotherapy or other methods prescribed by a doctor. A well-chosen diet helps to maintain joint health, but it does not replace comprehensive treatment in the presence of diseases.

Earlier, on May 23, Irina Lyalina, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the State University of Education, gave advice on choosing high-quality cottage cheese. The expert noted that cottage cheese should contain only milk and sourdough — without additives, starch, preservatives or stabilizers.
