Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the 36th Combined Arms Army the name "Guards". The relevant decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on July 1.

"Assign the honorary name "Guards" to the 36th Combined arms army and henceforth refer to it as the 36th Guards Combined Arms Army," the text of the document says.

It is noted that the name was awarded for the heroism, courage and bravery shown by the personnel in their actions to protect the country. The decree comes into force today.

On March 25, Putin signed a decree according to which two brigades and one regiment of the Russian Armed Forces were named "guards." The signed documents entered into force on the same day.
