- The media reported on the fraud of a Finnish company in the supply of body armor to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Finnish company is suspected of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with a batch of low-quality body armor. This was reported by Yle on July 1, citing police data.
"The company has signed a contract for the supply of protective equipment worth about 5.7 million euros with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. She was supposed to send 10,000 bulletproof vests," the publication says.
It is noted that the quality of the supplied protective equipment did not meet the stated requirements. In 2023, Ukraine turned to Finland for legal assistance in this case.
The Finnish company that supplied the body armor is suspected of fraud, embezzlement and money laundering. Two people were detained during the preliminary investigation. The case will be referred to the prosecutor's office.
On May 16, the Financial Times reported that Ukraine had suffered losses of hundreds of millions of dollars by purchasing weapons from dubious suppliers. As indicated, in some cases Kiev has made large prepayments to little-known companies that have not yet fulfilled their part of the contract. In addition, the newspaper's sources added that sometimes weapons were bought at "extremely inflated prices," but they turned out to be unsuitable.
