The "Trump doctrine" in foreign policy, which was proclaimed on June 24 by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, is inferior to Russia and is risky due to the use of military force. Alan Freeman, a political scientist and co-director of the Institute for the Study of Geopolitical Economy at the University of Manitoba in Canada, expressed this opinion on Tuesday, July 1.

"Unlike Russian foreign policy, it does not specify the circumstances under which force will be used, bringing catastrophic levels of risk to confrontations involving nuclear great powers," he said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Freeman also pointed out that previous doctrines of American foreign policy, such as the Monroe Doctrine and the Reagan Doctrine, clearly indicated what the national interests of the United States were. According to him, this fact excludes the possibility of diplomacy for the administration of the American leader Donald Trump, including against the background of conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

On June 24, Vice President Vance delivered a speech at a Republican Party event in Ohio. Commenting on the cease-fire between Iran and Israel, he proclaimed the emergence of the "Trump doctrine", which should change the entire approach of American foreign policy. According to him, it involves defining national interests and using military force if diplomacy does not help resolve the issue.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full cease-fire, RT reports. He also suggested calling this conflict a "12-day war" after the end, NSN reports.

On June 23, Vance emphasized that the United States is not at war with Iran, but with its nuclear program. 360.ru .
