Since the beginning of 2025, the European Union (EU) has transferred about €1.9 billion of income from Russian assets to Ukraine. This was announced on July 1 by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski during a press conference following Warsaw's presidency of the EU Council.
"During our presidency, we managed to transfer to Ukraine the second tranche of aid in the amount of €1.9 billion from percentages of frozen Russian assets," he was quoted as saying in a broadcast on TVP Info.
It is specified that the funds were allocated to the Ukrainian side to finance the production of weapons.
The day before, it was reported that Canada had transferred a tranche of $1.7 billion to the Ukrainian side, the funds were received from proceeds from frozen assets of Russia.
