The formation of a healthy musculoskeletal system begins from the first days of a child's life. Many problems with posture and coordination begin in infancy, when the bone system is particularly vulnerable. Angelina Shestakova, an internationally qualified osteopathic neurologist, told Izvestia about this on July 2.

"The newborn's bone structure is still soft, and the muscles are gradually gaining strength. The formation of ossification points in the pelvic region occurs only by 6-8 months," the specialist notes.

During this period, it is especially important to avoid premature stress on the spine and monitor the natural development of motor skills. The expert draws attention to the alarming signs that may indicate violations: torticollis, dysplasia, skipping the crawling stage, asymmetrical sitting or the "siren pose". When they are found, Shestakova recommends showing the child to a specialist, without waiting for the problem to worsen.

For the proper development of the musculoskeletal system, the doctor advises following a few simple rules. During sleep, it is important to use a hard, flat surface without a pillow, and regularly change the position of the baby's head. During periods of wakefulness, it is necessary to put the child on his tummy, do light massage and gymnastics, and stimulate movement with toys.

Particular attention should be paid to safety when traveling by car. The correct position in the car seat affects not only safety, but also physical development, emphasizes Irina Shcherbakova, brand manager at Britax Roemer. Experts recommend taking breaks on long trips and choosing car seats with the possibility of a horizontal position.

The main principle is not to rush the natural development.

"You should not drop off your child early or use a walker. The crawling stage is especially important, as it lays the foundation for a healthy posture," warns Shestakova.

In the presence of alarming symptoms, osteopathic correction can help eliminate muscle imbalances and ensure proper formation of the musculoskeletal system.

On April 3, cosmetologist Natalia Tkachenko gave tips on protecting children's skin from the sun. According to her, for each age group of children there are special features of the use of sunscreen cosmetics. So, no products can be applied to the baby's skin for up to three months, and after that you need products with an ultraviolet protection index (SPF), but only in accordance with the age label.
