In Turkey, 342 forest fires have been registered over the past few days, of which six are still ongoing. This was announced on July 1 by the country's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli.

"342 fires broke out in five days. Six fires are continuing in Manisa, Izmir, Hatay and Antakya," the Haberler portal quotes him as saying.

As specified, the fire in the province of Adan was brought under control. Yumakly added that extinguishing the fire is currently problematic due to strong winds.

On June 29, Milliyet newspaper reported that Izmir International Airport in Turkey had suspended operations due to forest fires. Flights will resume as usual after the fire is brought under control, the newspaper said.
