The body of a beaten refugee was found in the Verkhnedvinsky district of Belarus on the border with Latvia. This was reported on July 1 in the press service of the Belarusian Investigative Committee (IC).

"There was no mobile phone, money, personal belongings and documents with the deceased, which may indicate his forcible expulsion from the territory of Latvia," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that the identity of the deceased was established, he is a 29-year-old Eritrean citizen. The man was found to have numerous injuries: abdominal trauma, rupture of the spleen with intestinal damage, profuse intra-abdominal bleeding.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 3 of Article 147 ("Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of a person") of the Criminal Code of Belarus.

On May 19, the State Border Committee of Belarus reported that border guards had found two corpses of refugees and one beaten foreigner on the border with Latvia. It is specified that since the beginning of May, five dead refugees have been found on the border between Belarus and Latvia.
