The Moscow City Court found Timur Ivanov guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a general regime penal colony in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Intercommerce bank and embezzlement of money when buying ferries for the Kerch ferry, the Izvestia correspondent reported from the courtroom on July 1.
In addition, Ivanov was sentenced to a fine of 100 million rubles.
The defense is expected to appeal the verdict.
On June 23, during the debate between the parties, the prosecutor requested 14.5 years in a general regime penal colony for Ivanov, while the prosecution requested that Filatov be sentenced to 14 years.
The hearing on the case against Ivanov was held behind closed doors.
According to investigators, the defendants stole funds from the bank "Intercommerce" when buying the ferries "Agios Laurentius" and "Maria Elena" for the Kerch ferry.
The former deputy minister was detained on April 23, 2024. Ivanov is charged with accepting a bribe in the amount of 1,185 billion rubles. According to investigators, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and concluded contracts with them in exchange for personal remuneration.
The final charge in the case of Ivanov and his former subordinate, accused of embezzlement and money laundering, was approved on January 20.
