In Europe, due to the heat wave, campaigns have been launched against the use of air conditioners, which, due to mass use, lead to global warming. This was reported by Forbes magazine on July 1.

The publication noted that the growth of global energy consumption by 2024 increased by more than 2%. This surge is "compounded by heat waves increasing demand" for air conditioning.

"The problem: air conditioners are bad for both the planet and your wallet. From an environmental point of view, this is a bad indicator: it significantly increases the temperature of the outside air, becoming a gear in the vicious circle of global warming," the article says.

It is specified that turning off all air conditioners in a big city could reduce the temperature by at least 2 degrees.

According to the magazine, when using climate control equipment for about 4 hours a day, the electricity bill increases by about 15% per month. As an alternative, the townspeople were offered to use ceiling fans.

The Guardian newspaper reported on June 30 that Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Britain and Greece are experiencing extremely hot weather. The publication noted that in France, heat warnings have covered almost the entire mainland of the country. In addition, in Germany, by Wednesday, the temperature in some parts of the country may reach + 40 degrees. In Portugal, the heat reached +46.6.
