On July 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the exploits of Russian military personnel in the area of the special military operation (SVO).

The ministry noted the actions of Captain Ruslan Zhvakin, who commanded a unit tasked with knocking out the enemy from a fortified stronghold in one of the tactically significant areas. Zhvakin conducted reconnaissance and personally led the assault group.

Using the terrain, the unit advanced to the line of attack. With a jerk, the Russian attack aircraft overcame an open area of terrain and unexpectedly broke into the stronghold for the enemy.

The captain, controlling the firing group under constant shelling, ensured the successful and rapid advance of the attack aircraft deep into the point of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Zhvakin used small arms to eliminate two Ukrainian militants on his own, and also destroyed an enemy machine-gun emplacement with a grenade throw.

In addition, he organized the defense of the positions gained, dispersed the firepower of the assault group in dangerous areas. Due to this, the Russian attack aircraft successfully held their positions for a long time, repelling several enemy counterattacks. As a result of the captain's competent and courageous actions, an important stronghold was held, the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered significant losses, and conditions were created to continue advancing deep into the enemy's defenses.

The ministry also drew attention to the actions of Second Lieutenant Ilya Kukunin, who commanded a motorized rifle unit tasked with maintaining an important strategic direction.

During combat duty, the personnel of the observation post, using a night vision device, discovered a sabotage and reconnaissance group of Ukrainian militants moving in the direction of the Russian positions, which they immediately reported to Kukunin. Having assessed the enemy's forces, the second lieutenant alerted the unit and organized a repulse of the attack.

During the ensuing battle, Kukunin observed the situation and directed the actions of the personnel, giving timely orders to defeat enemy equipment and manpower and change positions. He also personally eliminated two Ukrainian militants.

As a result of coordinated actions, Russian motorized infantry repelled the enemy's attack and inflicted significant damage, destroying an armored vehicle and up to 10 personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
