Russian hockey player Alexander Romanov has signed an eight-year contract with the New York Islanders. This was announced on June 30 by the club's press service on its website.

According to Sport-Express, the total amount of the contract was $50 million, while Romanov's average annual salary was $6.25 million.

Romanov, 25, scored 20 points in 64 games last season. Before starting his career in the NHL, the Russian athlete played for CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

On May 28, the Utah Hockey Club of the National Hockey League (NHL) signed three-year contracts with Russian striker Daniil Booth and defenseman Dmitry Simashev.
