Ukraine received $1.7 billion from Canada from the proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation

Canada transferred a tranche of $1.7 billion to Ukraine, the funds were received from proceeds from frozen assets of Russia. This was announced on June 30 by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

"Ukraine has received about $1.7 billion from Canada <...> These are funds secured by income from frozen Russian assets," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Shmygal said that since the beginning of the year and taking into account the mentioned tranche, Kiev has already received $17.6 billion from frozen Russian assets.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on June 17 that Ukraine would receive a loan of $1.7 billion from Russian assets. At the same time, he said that Ottawa would provide Kiev with a new package of military assistance worth $ 1.5 billion.
