The doctor told about the main symptoms of childhood pneumonia in the summer

Pavel Berezhansky, a pediatrician, pulmonologist, allergist and immunologist, professor of the Department of Pediatric Diseases at Sechenov University, MD, said that in summer, the body can be affected by sudden temperature changes, such as sudden cooling after swimming in a cool river or due to the flow of cold air from an air conditioner.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, June 30, the doctor noted that in summer, due to unstable weather and off-season, children's immunity may decrease, and viruses may become more active. According to him, the risk of infection increases on vacation: in hotels, air conditioners are often not treated, which contributes to the spread of bacteria.
He noted that pneumonia in children is usually accompanied by fever, intoxication, and later by cough and sputum. Babies may have other symptoms, such as headaches, irritability, sweating, shortness of breath, and decreased appetite.
Berezhansky stressed that it is impossible to self—medicate cough in children - medical examinations are necessary to make a diagnosis, especially if a viral lung lesion is suspected.
In May, it was reported that the staff of the Department of Hospital Therapy at the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood of Pirogov University, together with scientists from the Chemical Faculty of Moscow State University, developed a chip designed to detect the smallest concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in the exhalation of patients. This compound often indicates the development of lung diseases.
