The average amount that families spent on preparing and holding graduation was from 45 to 75 thousand rubles per student. At the same time, every fifth family reported that the total amount exceeded 100 thousand rubles. This was reported to Izvestia on July 1 by analysts of the <url> financial marketplace.

It turned out that this amount includes the cost of an outfit, a banquet, photo and video filming, rental of transport, makeup artists, hairdressers and gifts to teachers. Clothing and appearance accounted for the largest part of the expenses, accounting for 34% of the total budget.

"Parents and graduates spent an average of 18,000 to 30,000 rubles on clothes, shoes and accessories. About 26% of the budget was spent on the organization of the banquet. The cost ranged from 8,000 to 25,000 rubles, depending on the region and the format of the holiday," the analysts added.

Another 17% of expenses were spent on photography and videography, and 11% on gifts to teachers. Transportation and other organizational details, including makeup and hairstyles, totaled about 12% of the total amount spent.

This year, 18% of parents admitted that they had resorted to borrowed funds to cover graduation expenses (12% of such respondents a year earlier). 22% of them applied for consumer loans, and 21% borrowed money from friends or relatives, 19% sought help from MFIs, and another 18% used installment payment programs.

"At the same time, 18% of parents surveyed noted that they had started saving money for graduation in advance, starting in the 9th grade. The survey also showed the influence of social media on the formation of graduation expenses. More than 40% of parents of graduates admitted that they were guided by the images and scenarios of the holiday that they saw on social networks," the study said.

Parents also note that the "picture" on social media creates additional pressure: 41% of respondents said they felt obligated to "keep up" with other classes and schools. At the same time, 19% of parents noted that schools followed the path of reasonable savings and organized a modest celebration within the walls of an educational institution or on the basis of city cultural centers. In such cases, the total cost per graduate did not exceed 20 thousand rubles.

Families from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan spent the most on graduation in 2025 - in these regions the average amount of expenses was about 92 thousand rubles. The lowest expenses were recorded in rural areas of the Kemerovo region, Udmurtia, Yakutia and Altai — from 18 to 30 thousand rubles.

Alexander Khvostov, Director of Relations with the educational community at MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia on June 9 that it is possible to apply to universities before July 25 if additional entrance tests are not required. However, for applicants to specialties where there are creative, professional or specialized tests, the deadline is July 20.
