A man who killed a rival because of a girl was sentenced to 16 years in a penal colony.

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced Ivan Kim to 16 years in a high-security penal colony, accused of murdering a rival 14 years ago and forgery of documents. This was reported on June 30 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The court also ordered Kim to pay 5 million rubles to the murdered man's mother, Clara Lee. The state prosecution requested 18 years in prison and a payment of 7 million rubles.

In 2011, an unknown man, also a representative of the Korean diaspora, called Maxim, called the man. He stated that he was dating his beloved and suggested that Ivan "sort it out like a man." The meeting was scheduled near the Bolshoi Theater. Maxim came with a friend, Ivan took a traumatic pistol with him.

During the conflict, Ivan shot Maxim and his friend. The first died a month later in the hospital, his friend was injured. After that, Ivan went to the Stavropol Territory, where he lived without documents. He ran the family trading business on behalf of his brother and mother. After his brother's death in 2023, Ivan took his documents, pasted his photo and returned to Moscow in 2024, where he was detained. Three sets of rights were also seized from the accused, all fake.

Earlier that day, a suspect in the murder of a man on a playground was detained in Moscow. It was noted that the defendant, being on Trade Union Street in Moscow, came into conflict with his friend and inflicted at least four stab wounds on him. The victim died from his injuries.
