In Moscow, police officers detained a 34-year-old dropper working for fraudsters who stole more than 17.5 million rubles from a pensioner. This was announced on June 30 by the Telegram channel MIA Media.

It is specified that telephone scammers were able to convince a 75-year-old resident of the Golyanovo district that her savings were at risk. Under the pretext of protecting money, the pensioner transferred more than 17.5 million rubles to the attackers.

"The police identified a 34-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk region, who played the role of a "cash dropper," the report says.

According to MIA Media, the attacker cashed out the money from the pensioner's bank accounts and transferred it to his supervisors. A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").

Earlier in the day, Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, said that law enforcement agencies had detained residents of St. Petersburg who were accomplices of telephone fraudsters who defrauded about 120 people of 150 million rubles. A criminal case was opened into the incident.
