In Crimea, a photographer was brought to justice for posting photos of aerialists under the dome of an ancient church in the Belogorsky district on social media. This was reported on June 30 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.

It is noted that earlier, the police revealed a publication on social networks containing photographs of aerialists on canvases performing tricks under the dome of the ancient 14th-century Armenian church of St. Yeghia.

"It has been established that a 46-year—old photographer from Yalta superimposed photos of aerialists using Photoshop on a photo of an Armenian church," the agency's Telegram channel clarifies.

The man admitted his guilt and explained that he took the pictures without intent to offend the feelings of believers. It is noted that the church is a monument of cultural heritage of federal significance.

An administrative protocol has been drawn up against the photographer for violating legislation on freedom of conscience, freedom of religion and religious associations. The materials were sent to the Belogorsky District Magistrate's Court for a procedural decision.

On June 10, deputies of the State Duma of Russia adopted in the first reading a bill on the protection of religious symbols of the main traditional faiths. Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the bill would ensure the respectful attitude of citizens towards religious symbols, as well as protect the feelings of believers.
