Poland may introduce migration control at the border with Germany and Lithuania

If the situation with illegal migration worsens, Poland may establish border controls with Germany and Lithuania. This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a press conference on June 29.
According to the information provided, he has already sent a letter to the German government and Chancellor Friedrich Merz with this initiative.
"We pointed out to the German side that if there are repeated cases [of illegal migration], which from our point of view are questionable, we will be forced to restore control on the Polish-German border from the Polish side, and effective," Polsat quoted him as saying.
According to the Prime Minister, if the resumption of intensive checks at the border had not had negative consequences, he "would not have hesitated a minute."
"These decisions should be extremely precise and should not affect too large a group of Polish citizens...This also applies to the possible recognition of control on the Lithuanian border," he said.
On June 11, Tusk said that the country's government could introduce partial controls on the border with Germany as early as this summer if the number of migrants crossing the border continued to grow.
