A verdict was passed in the Stavropol Territory for desecrating a military memorial.

The court sentenced two men to 2 years and 6 months in a penal colony for desecrating a monument in the village of Kurskaya, Stavropol Territory. This was reported on June 30 in the Telegram channel of the regional prosecutor's office.

"They were found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Desecration of symbols of military glory of Russia, insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, committed in public, by a group of persons")," the publication says.

It is specified that the attackers desecrated the monument "Eternal Flame of Soldier's Glory and Immortality" and pleaded not guilty to the crime.

According to the press service of the department, the verdict has not yet entered into force.

Earlier, on June 3, a criminal case was opened in connection with the damage to the obelisk "Warrior Liberator" in Mytishchi near Moscow. It was clarified that the video in which a group of minors damaged the monument was posted on social media.
