A court in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has sentenced a mercenary from Georgia to 14 years in prison in absentia for participating in an armed conflict. This was announced on June 30 by the DPR prosecutor's office.

It is specified that in March 2022, the person involved arrived on the territory of Ukraine and joined the ranks of one of the units as a mercenary. First, he underwent military training, then he was given weapons, ammunition and uniforms to participate in combat operations until March 2025. For this, the mercenary received a reward of more than 2.9 million rubles.

"Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, the court sentenced him in absentia...> to 14 years of imprisonment while serving a sentence in a high—security penal colony," it follows from the material.

On June 27, a German mercenary was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison in the DPR. It was reported that on September 12, 2023, the defendant joined the ranks of one of the units. In addition, the man also collected and delivered aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), collaborated with the reception center for Ukrainian refugees in the village of Medyka in Poland.
