Iran's parliament has voted to officially ban the use of SpaceX's Starlink satellite Internet service, owned by American billionaire Elon Musk. This was reported by the Isna news agency on June 30.

According to the publication, the punishment will follow for the use, purchase, sale, import, distribution and manufacture of Starlink equipment, as well as other means of access to the Internet and communications that have not passed internal certification.

According to DPA, the punishment will include a fine, lashes or even imprisonment for up to two years.

Earlier, on June 21, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for special assignments, Richard Grenell, asked Musk to provide the Iranians with access to the Starlink satellite communications system for several weeks. According to him, his friends in Iran do not have constant access to information, so he is ready to financially support the Starlink connection.
