A court in the Leningrad region sentenced a Ukrainian citizen to 10 years in a penal colony for espionage.

The Leningrad Regional Court found Ukrainian citizen Ilya Bondarchuk guilty in the espionage case and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. This was announced on June 30 by the press service of the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office.

"The Leningrad Regional Court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case against Ilya Bondarchuk, a citizen of Ukraine living in St. Petersburg. He was found guilty under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (espionage)," the agency wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the investigation, from March 2023 to July 2024, the man photographed objects of one of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC) and transmitted information to the Ukrainian special services.

It is noted that Bondarchuk was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime penal colony.

On June 27, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) sentenced Svetlana Kovaleva to 15 years in prison in a penal colony for espionage for the needs of Ukraine.
