Armenia and the European Union (EU) have started discussing cooperation in the field of security and defense. This was announced on June 30 by the country's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a press conference following a meeting with the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.

He called the start of consultations an important step for building bilateral cooperation that meets modern challenges.

"I would like to emphasize the cooperation aimed at strengthening Armenia's resilience and further developing democratic institutions, which also includes areas such as combating hybrid threats and disinformation," Mirzoyan was quoted as saying by the Armenian Press.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on June 13 that the republic would not be able to be a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) at the same time and the European Union. He noted that the decision should be made by the citizens of the country, but until then, the government will continue to implement reforms aimed at approaching EU standards.
