It is currently premature to talk about the introduction of 500% duties by the United States against China and India, which trade with Russia and do not support Ukraine. Malek Dudakov, an American political scientist, stated this in an interview with Izvestia on June 30.

"In my opinion, it is premature to say whether this very bill on the introduction of 500% secondary tariffs on Russian oil will be adopted. So far, we see the attitude of the administration of [US President Donald] Trump, who does not seek to have these very sanctions imposed right now, and thus close the possibility of a negotiation process with Russia," the political scientist said.

In addition, he stressed that the bill continues to change.

The expert also reported on possible exceptions for countries that provided assistance to Ukraine. As an example, Dudakov cited India, which sent humanitarian aid in 2022. According to him, the country can get an indulgence and avoid the negative consequences of the new tariffs.

"In this way, India can also receive an indulgence and not suffer from the effects of these tariffs. That is, in the end, they probably threaten only one China, but even then, if, as it were, the negotiation process between Russia and the Americans breaks down, and there is no positive, positive effect, then it is possible," the political scientist emphasized.

He also pointed out that even if sanctions are imposed, many countries will find ways to circumvent them. According to him, no one will give up on Russian oil.

On June 29, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), commenting on the bill on new anti-Russian sanctions, said that the United States intends to impose duties of 500% on Russia's trading partners who do not support Ukraine. The project will be directed against India and China, which import Russian oil.
