The bill on the nationalization of the Electric Grid of Armenia company, which belongs to Samvel Karapetyan, businessman and philanthropist, head of the Tashir Group of companies, is illiterate. This was announced by Acting CEO David Kazinyan at a press conference on June 30.
"In one of the interviews, I made a mistake and mentioned a "semi-literate bill." I'll fix my mistake now.: As a lawyer, I consider this an "illiterate bill," Kazinyan said, his words are reported by Sputnik Armenia.
The acting General Director of Electric Grids of Armenia noted that the company intends to apply to the relevant international authorities to protect its interests. At the same time, Karapetyan will not make a deal in exchange for his freedom, Ghazinyan stressed.
Karapetyan's detention became known on June 18, he was charged with calling for the seizure of power in Armenia and arrested for two months. Armenian politician Arman Abovyan called the businessman's detention an attempt to weaken the influence of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC).
Also on June 18, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his intention to nationalize Armenia's Electric Grid. In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, recalled that in 2019, the Armenian prime minister offered international businesses to invest in the country, and now advocates the nationalization of the company owned by Karapetyan.
